Ministry of Interior reports 400 signals for violation of electoral legislation

The Ministry of the Interior continues to implement the plan for coordination of the activities of the structures and interaction with the competent state bodies in order to prevent, prevent and detect violations of the electoral process. Today, specialised operations against vote-buying are being carried out in Gabrovo, Haskovo and Smolyan districts, said Dr Mitko Dimitrov , Director of the Ministry’s Press and Strategic Communications Directorate.

In Gabrovo , the teams are working to clarify seven alerts , one of which is the subject of pre-trial proceedings. Checkpoints have been set up throughout the district and checks are being carried out on people and motor vehicles . People from the active criminal contingent and others, for whom there are indications that they can exert influence on the citizens’ vote , are the object of control .

In Haskovo , a check on a signal from yesterday about vote buying has already been completed and today the materials have been sent to the District Prosecutor’s Office , 2 warning protocols under the Ministry of Internal Affairs have also been handed over.

On the territory of the Smolyan region, 26 commercial establishments , pawnshops and credit institutions have been inspected , for which there is a risk of election-related violations. 4 persons of interest to the police were also inspected.

Lists with personal data of people with low social status were found by police officers from RU- Dupnitsa during checks in the framework of an operation to prevent violations of electoral legislation. Lists of ID numbers, addresses and amounts of money were seized from the home of a 60-year-old man from Sapareva Banya and from his car. The 60-year-old was detained with police warrant in the custody of the Dupnitsa police station , and summary proceedings were initiated.

Dimitrov summarized the results to date of the national specialized operation to counter electoral rights violations:

• 204 operations have been carried out on the territory of the country;
• the number of received signals for violations of the electoral process is 400 ;
• 84 pre-trial proceedings have been initiated;
• 42 people have been arrested;
• 1197 warning reports under the Law of the Ministry of Interior have been issued.
